After two years of relentless carrot juicing, Drew switched to smoothies in the blender. To the joy of our whole family, the kitchen sink is no longer piled with carrot skins and the once white, but now orange-hued juicer is resting in the pantry.
Drew has a lot of smoothie recipes that he likes, but the one included in The Drew Box is definitely his favorite for it's taste, nutritional content, and relative ease to prepare. It's his go-to for when he's feeling sick, undergoing treatment, or recovering from a surgery or procedure. Below is my variation of Drew's "BE WELL" Smoothie that I like to make for myself. It doesn't look as pretty as Drew's (the raspberries and greens make it a little brown) and it has quite a bit of cilantro flavor in it, but it's a great natural detoxifier and nutritional blend of antioxidants, chelators, blood sugar regulators and essential vitamins and minerals. Hope you like it! And, if you don't, at least you know it's super good for you!
Drew's "BE-WELL" Smoothie - The Jessica Edition
- 1 32 ounce carton of unsweetened coconut milk
- 1 bunch fresh, chopped cilantro
- 1 cup chopped spinach
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- 1 whole avocado
- 1 whole banana sliced into chunks
- 1 tablespoon ceylon cinnamon
Put ingredients into blender and mix for 30 seconds. Organic ingredients are recommended but not necessary.
P.S. We still love to juice carrots (and add cream), just not all day everyday:)
