One of our first and favorite Drew Box recipients was The Medical Memory President and CEO, Lucas Felt. He asked "Why is the bar of soap so small?". We asked, "What bar of soap?!" In order to remedy any confusion, we are super excited to share The Drew Box Lotion Bar recipe and explain all of the awesome ways to use it!
Small, but mighty in it's ability to moisturize and heal, The Drew Box lotion bar is made with pure, locally sourced beeswax packed with antimicrobial, antibacterial, and skin protecting properties. It is made to fit nicely in the hand for easy and effective application and storage. We love to keep our bar next to the bed and rub it into our cuticles (fingers + toes!), elbows, heels, and on any bruises, or sore joints before going to sleep. It also works great in a purse, makeup bag, or dopp kit for travel and on-the-go application. Keeping one next to the kitchen or bathroom sink also works great! Here is our recipe if you would like to make your own.
- 1 cup organic extra-virgin coconut oil
- 1 cup organic cocoa butter
- 1 cup beeswax (we use locally sourced, hand filtered wax)
- 1 teaspoon pure emu oil
First, grease muffin tin or mold of your choice with coconut oil. Using a double-boiler, melt beeswax until liquified. In separate pot, melt coconut oil and cocoa butter and mix thoroughly. Slowly stir beeswax into melted coconut oil and cocoa butter. Add the emu oil and gently stir. Pour mixture into muffin tin and let solidify (we like to put ours in the refrigerator overnight). You can also add your favorite organic essential oil along with the emu oil if you'd like!
P.S. We are excitedly working on handmade pinched clay pots to go with our lotion bars....Keep you posted!
